Case Study

Overview

This project began when the clients approached us with a vision for a modern, energy-efficient custom home that would serve as their forever home. They wanted a space that balanced beauty, comfort, and long-term practicality, with a main-floor layout designed for aging in place and everyday convenience.

Client Objectives

The couple needed a home where all daily amenities were located on the main floor. The goal was to eliminate the need for stairs, minimize physical strain, and create a barrier-free environment. They were looking for a custom home builder who could provide guidance through permitting, design decisions, and advanced energy-efficiency upgrades while keeping the process smooth and stress-free.

Project Challenge

The challenge was to design an ageless home that supported the clients’ needs today while also maintaining strong appeal for resale in the future. The home needed to feel modern, perform exceptionally well, and remain competitive in the market a decade from now. Preplanning was detailed, technical, and essential to achieving the right balance between aesthetics, structural efficiency, and long-term functionality.

Our Approach

To meet the performance goals, we incorporated SIP construction (Structural Insulated Panels). SIPs allowed us to create a highly efficient building envelope with superior strength, airtightness, and energy performance. This method reduced on-site construction time and kept the build on track to be completed in under one year.

While SIP systems offer major benefits, they come with certain limitations and lifestyle adjustments. We guided the clients through every phase of the process, helping them understand how the system works and how it would enhance their comfort and long-term energy savings.

Results

The finished home exceeded expectations. It delivered modern design, exceptional energy efficiency, and a main-floor layout perfectly suited for aging in place. The clients immediately felt at home, with the design supporting both comfort and long-term independence. Despite the learning curve of the SIP system, the homeowners were pleased with the final product and the level of performance achieved.

The result is a modern, future-proof home that blends high efficiency, thoughtful design, and lasting value. What started as a construction project quickly became a meaningful living space where new memories are already being created.
